So I have been aware of ‘Mad Men’ for a while now, the show created by Max Weiner (also the producer of The Sopranos) and I have watched a few random spots on the Net earlier when I first heard about it. Was very interesting stuff. Interesting enough to make me dial Movie Empire’s number and ask if he had any seasons from the show.
The man had a few seasons of the uncensored Entourage (dont bother watching it on HBO, nothing like the original version) much before HBO decided to bring it to Indian shores.
I missed my friend from the ticker department at Times Now who used to faithfully supply me with the latest seasons of all the shows you didnt get DVDs of at the local store. But we have lost touch so….
Meanwhile the Movie Empire man is rattling off names of the latest Hindi masala fare.
“Tashan, Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic…”
“Mad Men. Hindi nahin, english show. english.”
“Sorry madam. agle mahine milega.”
Enterprising guy. never say no. He is probably furiously scribbling away the name.
I just thought that enough ad folks living in Bandra would have already asked for the dvd prompting him to get it somehow. Thats how it works, right? Well, apparently not.
The ad folks in India dont seem to care too much about Mad Men, I deduced.
Maybe its because its set in the 60s, its set in America. maybe, if we had our own version of what happened in the glass offfices in say, Lower Parel. or rather what REALLY happened behind those agency doors.
